Cancellation:

It is not uncommon for people to book their vacation many months in advance. It takes planning to get 3-4 couples or extended families organized for a group holiday. People seldom book a house at the last minute. This makes it very hard for me to fill vacancies caused by cancellations. Unlike a hotel or B&B, who have multiple rooms to rent, it is all or nothing with a cottage rental. Therefore I require lots of notice of cancellation.

For bookings made with VRBO or Air BnB or any other agency the cancellation policy will be the one stated on that web site.

For bookings made direct with Don George

  • Advise cancellation 60 or  more days in advance of check in and I will return 100% of what you have paid less credit card fees
  • Advise between 30 and 60 days of check in and I will return 50% of your deposit
  • Within 30 days there is no refund. Reservations are not transferable.

Damage: For bookings made direct with me. I do not charge a damage deposit. I have been renting homes in Niagara on the Lake since 2002 during that time I have had no serious damage issues. If when renting you accidentally break something or cause minor damage please let me know so that I can repair it for the next guests. In a case like that I do not expect to charge you for the replacement.  In the event of significant damage caused by guests I reserve the right to charge the cost of repairs to the credit card used to book the home. The person whose credit card is used to book the house is responsible to look after the home during the rental period.

Damage: For bookings made with VRBO or Air BnB or any other agency the damage deposit will be the one stated on that web site.

Cleaning: Cleaning outside of normal will result in a minimum $200.00 charge to the renter’s credit card. Ninety-nine percent of guests leave the house like I would expect they would leave their own. The other two percent will be charged for the cleanup and will not be rented to in the future.

Parking: Where possible, please park on the property. Street parking is also allowed adjacent to both homes.

Pets: Pets are allowed with prior approval. There is a $150.00 fee per pet.

Noise by-law: Niagara on the Lake is a quiet tourist/retirement community. The town has a noise by-law to ensure it stays quiet. The by-law states that no loud sounds can be made out of doors after 10 PM. If you are enjoying the front porch after 10 PM please keep the music turned off and voices down. This policy is enforced.

Privacy: I value my privacy and I am sure you value yours. The only information of yours that I maintain is your e-mail address. I use it strictly to send updates regarding the houses. Your e-mail address will not be shared with anyone.
